DōMatcha™ Wins North American Tea Championship
1st Overall in Blended Green Tea Category
VANCOUVER, Canada (Sept. 30, 2011) — DōMatcha™ Genmai Cha with Matcha Blend captured 1st place in the "Blended Green Tea" category at the 2011 North American Tea Championships in Las Vegas.
In recognition of DōMatcha's superior quality, World Tea Media presented the Championship Award to DōMatcha™ Japanese Green Tea and Vancouver based distributor EcoTrend Ecologics.
"We always knew it was a winner, but now it's official," says DōMatcha™ Director of Sales and Marketing Calli O’Brien who credits the product's authentic Japanese heritage and tea master.
“DōMatcha™ Genmai Cha was created by Kazunori Handa, an accomplished tea master whose family has been in the tea business for over 200 years."
Genmai Cha shared the championship spotlight with another DōMatcha™ product at this year's event. DōMatcha™ Organic Ceremonial Matcha placed 2nd in the highly competitive Matcha category.
"We’ve had rave reviews about this tea as well," says O'Brien, "and now the experts agree!"
The North American Tea Championship is held in conjunction with the annual World Tea Expo and judged by professional international tea tasters.
In selecting champions, judges assess each entrant according to its dry leaf and brewed tea characteristics.
